The Objective

ATECH Electronika was looking to validate the idea of a web platform that would streamline communication between furnace users, sellers, and repairmen, allowing remote diagnostics and maintenance while reducing service costs. The client was open to doing a design sprint, which we agreed was the best approach to testing their idea.

Our Approach

The primary challenge was to design a solution that allowed repairmen to assess and resolve furnace issues remotely via an interface. The technology was already available, but we needed a web platform to fully leverage it. We followed design sprint methodology and completed the following steps:

  • Conducted expert interviews to gather insights from stakeholders and understand the specific needs of furnace sellers and repairmen.
  • Mapped userjourneys to define key interactions between furnace users, sellers, and repairmen.
  • Created storyboards to visualise potential solutions and explore different approaches to address user needs.
  • Built a prototype to validate the web platform concept for efficient dispatching of repairmen and remote diagnostics.
  • Tested the solution with real users such as repairmen and furnace sellers.
The design sprint allowed us to move quickly from idea to validation, ensuring our solution was both feasible and user-friendly.

The Outcome

The design sprint resulted in a prototype that was tested with real repairmen and furnace sellers, providing valuable insights into user needs and product market viability. The success of the sprint led ATECH to move forward with development.

Appreciation

This project succeeded thanks to effective collaboration with ATECH’s CEO and employees, and the support from my fellow designer and workshop facilitator, Žiga Judar. Nejc Habulin further developed the UX/UI after the sprint, contributing to the final product.
